Cabin ~ Dec 7. 2008 ~ Christmas Tree Hunting

First - the cabin! We have siding!!!!
And a deck! Okay, the deck is just temporary to help the workers - it will later be Trex.

The door is hung to the basement. We chose to keep the door styles the same all round the cabin. This door will let a bit of light into a dark storage area and still keep things secure.
Inside, looking out - all the windows are in and the sheeting is up. We have a closed in cabin! The furnace goes in this next week & electrical will be done soon. Once that's finished we can move on to the drywall.

Christmas Tree Hunting Time!!

The one has been found! We found this one just as we got out of the Trailblazer. . . talk about luck!

Ava found a tree just her size. That one please.

The kill! And the weapon! This is the only thing we hunt in our family. . . .Christmas Trees.
Headed back - Daddy said he couldn't have carried the tree without Em's help.

Cabin ~ Nov 15. 2008

Here's our latest update!

Brad & I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary on Nov 21, so we don't have a more recent update. The roof has been chosen, the doors & windows are now installed, the plumbing has been roughed in and the electrical is being done this coming week.

But here's what happened on Nov 15. . . which, by the way, was Mom's first time seeing construction!! The plywood is on the roof . . .

Here are the girls & Omp headed up the ramp to the front door.

In the family room looking out on to the deck & meadow.
Ava peaking in the clearstory windows in the living room.
Workers adding on to the chimney - the roof is steeper & taller, so the chimney needed to be extended.

Finishes & Details

So we've started picking some of the detail things & finishes. Here are the door knobs. Smart Key by KwikSet This is the front door.

These are all other interior & exterior doors - the finish is called Oil Rubbed Bronze.

We've chosen the exterior doors but I can't find a photo online & I don't have time to scan in the photo from my catalog. But, I do have the interior doors:

This is the vanity for both bathrooms - it comes as the set - mirror included!

Febo by Ace Hardware
The cabinets for the kitchen are Cambrian by Sunnywood .
Their website is not cooperating with me & you'll have to follow the link to see the photos of it. We're doing basic cabinets, no wine rack, no plate holders, no glass doors - just the basics. The counter has not been chosen but will be a laminate that looks like a beige granite.

I've ordered samples of the flooring - its looking like hardwood in the main living area, with cork everywhere else. We'll see.

I think that's it for now. I'd like to see it again before we leave but there just isn't time. A lot should be done by the time we come home. We need to be picking colors for the roof & the exterior siding. Windows have been ordered - they're a great color on the vinyl. Its not white, its not almond, they call it bronze but its like a dark taupe.
