Finishes & Details

So we've started picking some of the detail things & finishes. Here are the door knobs. Smart Key by KwikSet This is the front door.

These are all other interior & exterior doors - the finish is called Oil Rubbed Bronze.

We've chosen the exterior doors but I can't find a photo online & I don't have time to scan in the photo from my catalog. But, I do have the interior doors:

This is the vanity for both bathrooms - it comes as the set - mirror included!

Febo by Ace Hardware
The cabinets for the kitchen are Cambrian by Sunnywood .
Their website is not cooperating with me & you'll have to follow the link to see the photos of it. We're doing basic cabinets, no wine rack, no plate holders, no glass doors - just the basics. The counter has not been chosen but will be a laminate that looks like a beige granite.

I've ordered samples of the flooring - its looking like hardwood in the main living area, with cork everywhere else. We'll see.

I think that's it for now. I'd like to see it again before we leave but there just isn't time. A lot should be done by the time we come home. We need to be picking colors for the roof & the exterior siding. Windows have been ordered - they're a great color on the vinyl. Its not white, its not almond, they call it bronze but its like a dark taupe.

Oct 25 Cabin Update

Okay - we were up working again today. . . here's what we saw:

The old fireplace. . . and a few new walls!
The front door is right next to where the new wall is framed. You can see the master bath's window & the master bed's window, and part of the basement.

Here's the inside view - standing in the living room looking towards the kitchen & the master.

Standing in the kitchen looking towards the second bedroom with a clearstory window, and the laundry/mud room nook.

Standing in the kitchen looking towards the living room, out over the deck & into the meadow.

Inside the basement. Look now, this may be the only shots I take of this area! It will get a lot of insulation & possibly the washer & dryer.

The holes are crawl space access to under the rest of the cabin.

The infamous debris pile. It doesn't seem to have changed any.

One last shot - this may be the new driveway area.

Oct 11 Cabin Update

Here's the cabin - Oct 11.2008

The old brick fireplace that was in the living room. . . this will become the master bedroom.

Here's Emma with her favorite "puzzle tree" that will be at the corner of the cabin, you can see the basement in the background.

Standing in the laundry area!
My beautiful meadow. . . covered in fill dirt.
The debris pile from the old cabin.

Emma's birthday

We'll come back to this. . . .I promise!

July is Birthday Month

Uncle Kermit on the left, big bro Uncle Harley (Fritz) in the middle, & Grandad on the right.
Here's the cake. . . 168 years! The names should be flip flopped to match the photo - Uncle Kermit on the left, Grandad on the right.

Yes, July is Birthday month! It begins on the 1st with Grandad Keith & Uncle Kermit's 168th birthday. (For those unaware, they're twins so we add the years together)

I like to start my celebrations on the 4th & pretend all the fireworks are for me. Then we continue on to the 10th. A good friend told me that 33 is a magic year. Okay!

Not much else as far as updates - except. . . .Em plays in her first tee-ball game tonight!

Come visit the girls on their new web site - that's where all the updates are going. Go here:

Going green

Have you started to make the switch? I've been doing green things for as long as I can remember. The most simple one being turning off the water while I brush my teeth. I found a great blog
Growing Green Kiddos and Organic Babies - greenkiddos.com
Growing Green Kiddos and Organic Babies

written by a member of my mommy/baby group. Steph is up on all kinds of green stuff.

Be sure to stop in at Hometown Ace Hardware (3700 Tieton Drive, next to Joann's Fabrics) if you're in Yakima. We've started selling the ECOS line of cleaning products. I've been using the toilet cleaner, the laundry detergent & the dishwashing detergent. We also have reusable tote bags for $1 each. I love taking them shopping or just out & about.
